For this assignment, I had to create a Google Maps list of 10 different companies that I found within a target area. I then was to find some information about the company and if there is a position available. Finally, I honed in on two companies and wrote up an explanation as to why they would be great connections to have.
A little context as you look at my choices. I want to become a college professor, but know I need much more experience in the field and teaching in a college setting. That’s why I have colleges and media companies saved onto my map.
Unfortunately, it was difficult to find an industry professional from a certain college, so I resorted to 2 from media companies:
This media company that I stumbled across is exactly what I had in mind when I was researching. They do everything from branding to social media marketing. They’re a small business that makes a big impact. The CEO/Founder, Filomena Fanelli, would be a great industry professional to network with. She was a hard-worker and became vice-president of Reuben Associates before she began her own business (Impact PR & Communications, ltd). Despite all the time she dedicates to her company, she still has time for her family and to volunteer at local events including the Special Olympics.
Filomena seems like an all around great person and a professional who has a lot of experience under her belt. I would love to connect with her to learn more about what she does and hopefully am able to improve in my own skills as a media communicator.
This advertising company is a branch of iHeartMedia. When I was first starting out at Full Sail, my career path initially was to work for that company. I would still love the opportunity to work at one of their locations before I start teaching. The art director for this branch of iHeart Media is Nicole Wendel. She is a creative individual who always takes on a challenge. She appears to be a problem solver and a doer. She’s done everything from graphic design to sales. She has great communication and interpersonal skills and loves what she does.
Nicole would be a great connection to make because of her high position in iHeartMedia. She knows a lot about the industry and could offer me advice and insight as to what she does.
