After watching "Creating a Career Plan" by Dr. Chaz Austin, I wrote a short reflection outlining three key strategies I can use in my career journey.
During this first week of Portfolio VII, we were instructed to watch “Creating a Career Plan” by Dr. Chaz Austin. In the hour-long course, he went over many insightful tips and tricks as to what we should expect for the future in regards to my career, goals, future plans, etc. He offered great advice throughout but three points in particular stuck out the most.
The first strategy I would follow is to always pay attention to trends and brand economy. The career world is vast and ever changing. What may be the same today will not be tomorrow. Constant research is necessary. Having the understanding to know what to chase after and what to put aside for later can save time and frustration and end up being profitable in the end.
Another strategy Dr. Austin’s proposes is to begin at the end. In other words, have the goal in mind and then figure out the baby steps to reach it. It is much easier and less overwhelming to achieve smaller goals that are small pieces of the puzzle than to look at the career plan as a whole.
Finally, I can utilize the strategy of tailoring my marketing efforts towards my customers. My digital presence is not meant for me any longer. It is meant as a connection tool for potential customers and future connections. I must be sure to modify it routinely to fit what they are looking for so I will be seen as a valuable and reliable asset.
Finding a career that I love is what matters. By taking these strategies into consideration, I can make the necessary steps to build up my brand and work towards living out my passions.
