For this assignment, we were to show the class the graphics and effects we planned to use for our opening title and ending credit screen of our video along with a brief reflection.

Before attempting to create titles for my project, I watched the suggested Lynda videos. Unfortunately, the newest version of Premiere Pro is almost completely different than the version Richard Harrington from Lynda was using. After watching them, I decided to continue to search for other helpful tutorials. I understood the basics of the text tool in Premiere but I wanted to make an engaging, professional yet simple looking title. I also wanted to learn how to make the scroll effect for the credits.

Searching a bit, I found two great videos: one by AdobeMasters and the other by Ignace Aleya. In Aleya’s video, he taught me how to create an intriguing, cinematic opening title. The video was short, the effects were simple, and it fit perfectly with what I was trying to accomplish. He explained the simplicity of key frames, how effect controls can be used in text, and so on. In the video with AdobeMasters, they explained how to make a scrolling effect with the newest Premiere Pro. According to AdobeMasters, this update completely changed the way titles and text would be created in Premiere. So, he showed the quickest and easiest way to make the scrolling credits effect.

I always loved a powerful title and think they really add to the viewer’s first impression of the film. In the future, I want to research more on how to make more dramatic and/or simple titles for later projects.
