For this final assignment of Week 3, I was to begin the creation of my personal portfolio site. Since I already had an online portfolio, I just fixed up my old site and incorporated all the things we learned this month. Below is a link to my portfolio and a self assessment.

In the end, I am quite proud of what I created. It isn’t perfect yet and there is still content that can be added (testimonials, video intro, more book information, etc.), but I am happy with my end result. Compared to what the site was, it is now more organized, clean looking, and easier to navigate. I also re-wrote my descriptions, re-categorized my content, and added more recent work. I also fixed my Resume page so it’s all text and there is an optional downloadable Resume at the bottom.

Moving forward, I will use this site to organize and display my best work. Whether it be from school or a client, I will be able to keep everything in one place. I also will be able to watch my progress throughout the years. Along with keeping myself organized, I can also present this to employers to show all my experience and why I am right for their job.

I feel my Home Page is the strongest page on the site. It is basically a summary of all the content on the site. It starts with my header image (drawn by me) and my titles. Then, it goes to a very brief about me paragraph with my personal mission statement underneath. The following sections are teasers about the work I have done and what I can do and concludes with a contact section. This page is the sneak preview into the rest of the site with the intention that the user would be intrigued to learn more.

I feel like my book description page and my about me page may need some more work. They both contain a lot of information. I want to make sure that they don’t overwhelm the user and they are able to pick out the important points in each section.

Three goals I’d like to set for myself are:

  1. Make the “Books” page more engaging

  2. Develop more content for the “Leader” section

  3. Add more mockups and maybe find another image of me
