Fictitious Site Launch

For the last assignment of week 2 of Editing for the Web, I created and launched a fully functioning website for the fictitious client, Reel Deal Tacos. I had to make sure that everything I promised in my website proposal was incorporated into the site. Below is the link to the site, my answers to self assessment prompts, and an image of my Reel Deal Tacos style guide.

I was able to meet all the provisions I outlined in my proposal. I first created a Style Guide for Reel Deal Tacos that was used to keep the site consistent and representing the brand. (The Style Guide is also a hidden page on the site for easy reference.) I designed an eye catching site that is easy to navigate, engaging, and full of information. It is also mobile friendly and looks perfect in other browsers. I also made sure that each page had relevant content that search engines could easily find. I feel that with this site, Reel Deal Tacos would raise awareness for the brand and attract their target audience. Technically, I did not deliver the increase of customer engagement as promised in my proposal because the client is fictitious… However, if Reel Deal Tacos was real, I am sure that I would be able to keep that promise. The most challenging part was keeping it mobile friendly. When I thought it looked great on the desktop, I would switch to the mobile previewer and see my testimonial bubbles all over the place, my pictures were too big, and etc. Thankfully, Wix has a mobile editor so I was able to tweak those problems, but it was still a bit frustrating. Where I would go deeper with Reel Deal Tacos is maybe creating a list of FAQ for the site. I think a FAQ page would really help customers if they had questions that other people had asked before. It isn’t necessary, but it would maybe add to the user’s experience. If I had more time to go deeper, that is something I would consider.
