For this second assignment of Week 2, I was instructed to research Content Management Systems (CMS) to design a webiste for the fictitious client, Reel Deal Tacos. After researching, I wrote a few brief paragraphs addressing prompts about why I chose the site. Finally, I set up the account and basic layout of the site and added the link to preview it below.

For Reel Deal Tacos, I chose to use Wix as the CMS for their site. The reason I chose Wix was because it is easy to manage, has great design options, and has the cheapest plan to fit Reel Deal Tacos’ needs. I also wanted to get the feel for Wix. It seems to be one of the most popular platforms and has a good reputation. I was thinking of switching one of my sites over to Wix, but I wanted to practice with it first before doing so.

I have only used Wix for my Full Sail University blog. I was a little frustrated with it at first, but slowly began to get the hang of it. It still can be a bit difficult at times because there is a slight lag and it doesn’t run smooth when you drag and drop elements.

For my Reel Deal Tacos site, I chose their “Basic Layout” template with no particular formatting. Reason for this is because I had a good idea of what I wanted the site to look like with my wire frame and wanted to be able to match it when the time came. It is also simple, easy to follow, and perfect for what Reel Deal Tacos is asking for.

The features of Wix I will leverage are their custom templates and their anchor menus. Reel Deal Tacos wants a fun, friendly site that represents their brand. Wix’s custom templates give me enough room for creativity, rather than being stuck with an ordinary template. It will help me make the site attractive, intuitive, and original. I also will take advantage of their anchor menu options. Reel Deal Tacos wants the site to be easy for their entire audience to navigate. With anchor menus, it is easy to break up information on a single page and help the audience find what they’re looking for.

A CMS that I have had experience with and would not recommend would be Wordpress. However, I would only not recommend this to individuals using CMS for the first time without any experience. My reason is that it is a bit of a hassle to customize and can be frustrating if you don’t know what you are doing. The free plan is very limited and a bit confusing. If you want an easy, hassle free CMS experience, I would suggest starting out with Weebly or Wix.
