At first, we were unsure what to create our video on. There were too many ideas/companies to choose from; it was hard to pick just one. Finally, we decided on a message that was simple, yet powerful. "Change the World; Smile." Focusing on this motto, we chose to promote the toothpaste company Colgate who help keep people's smiles healthy and bright. In order to collaborate on this idea, my team and I used the collaborating application Skype. It was difficult for all of us to get together in one place, so with Skype we could leave each other messages. When we did connect at once, the app was a huge help. We were able to talk to each other quickly and everyone could see the conversation. Along with Skype, we also used a group email with our Full Sail accounts to send the larger documents back and forth.

Individual Roles for our project:

Erika Mueller – Photographer

Javiyun Mosley – Video Editor

Inara Patton – Audio and Music

Sara Raciti – Writer/Storyboard Creator

I assumed the role of Writer/Storyboard creator. Once I saw it as an option in the challenge guidelines, I immediately asked my teammates if it was alright if I took the role. Having already chosen other positions, they agreed, and I got started right away. As said before, I love to write so this role appealed to me the most. I have written novels, poems, scripts, and more. With this experience, I was comfortable with the role and did my very best.

My contribution to the video was creating the idea of promoting a dental company with the idea that smiling is contagious. I have come to know that the smallest things in life can make the greatest differences. I always want to remind people of that. This video is one way of doing it. Along with suggesting the idea, I also wrote the poem that was narrated throughout and created the title and ending motto.

What surprised me was how well we worked together as a team. I was a little nervous at first who I was going to be collaborating with. I was afraid that our schedules would be so different and crazy that we wouldn’t be able to reach each other. In the end, we succeeded and did so very well.

I am most proud of how on top of things my team was. We started communicating right away and it was a huge help. I knew that the week of the project I was going to be twelve hours away from home with terrible Wi-Fi connection. Thankfully, they were understanding, and we all worked together nonetheless. I think we all did an awesome job, and I am happy with our finished product!

This project was most definitely a challenge. It is difficult collaborating online especially when we all have different time zones and schedules. Not only that, but it is President’s Day weekend and another member and myself were away from home for most of the week. Despite that, we managed, overcame the difficulty, and completed our project.
